RECENT INVESTMENTS BEGIN TO PAY DIVIDENDS
In order to try to keep pace with changing market trends, a major machine upgrade program has seen CAPS Cases install three new machines at the Newmarket factory, during the second half of 2007 and first quarter of 2008. |
August 2007 saw delivery of a 2.6 metre 3 colour high end graphic printer, which we have installed into a purpose built enclosed print clean room. This machine comes complete with a full vacuum transfer system, enabling us to print very complex flexo-graphic work; the machine can cope with 0.5mm registration. Having this printer within a clean room has also proved extremely beneficial for printing point of sale materials onto coated boards and retail ready packaging. This investment is designed to position CAPS Cases at the forefront of the flexo sector and opens up markets previously the domain of less cost effective silk screen and litho print techniques. |
Over the past year we have also recognised our work load was giving us a multi-point gluing bottle neck. In order to allieviate this we installed a third multi point machine. Whilst it is not as complex as our two Vega gluers it has had the desired effect of giving us extra capacity for the production of quick assembly boxes, corner glued trays and die cut glued cases. Again the hope is this will see CAPS Cases continue as a major trade gluer and producer of multi-point glued cases.

| Late February has seen the arrival of our biggest investment; a new flat bed die-cutter. This will enable us to produce multi-up die-cuts at run speeds comparable to multinational corrugated companies. This machine has been specifically designed to make use of existing tooling and gives a very flexible approach to the market. We have the facility to fully strip work if the quantities / annual usages warrant paying for a more expensive tool. If, however, the job is a once off we can use a single forme to keep origination costs down and still offer the customer a competitive price. |
| Our total spend on machinery during this project is well in excess of a million pounds. This, together with our ethos toward customer service, quality and a personal approach to all our custom, will hopefully mean that we continue to remain a market leader in the sheet plant sector. |
